I'm so Excited!!!

Well, summer is now in full swing and I hope that everyone had a fantastic Fourth of July!  There has been so much going on in my life over the past few weeks and I really want to share the most exciting news with my readers.

Last week I became Certified SDU (Scrapbook Design & You) Instructor and was assigned to teach at the Colorado Springs area Michael's stores!  I met with the managers of each store today and I have to tell you that the excitement among all of us is absolutely contagious.  Each of my meetings was spent brainstorming and planning for our first round of classes which will begin in August.  As many of you know, it's been quite some time since Michael's offered papercrafting classes so we are all very anxious to get started.
If you are not familiar with SDU please follow the link in the sidebar and check it out.  The wonderful thing about the SDU course is that whether you are new to scrapbooking or have been cropping for years you will benefit from this class.  We cover everything from preserving and organizing your photos to adding those special touches to really personalize your pages and create a lasting memory.

As part of our big kick-off for the classes I will be on hand at our North Academy store during our monthly Friday Night Crop on July 30th.  This crop will be held from 1pm - 8pm and is completely FREE but you do need to contact the store to sign up.  I will be on hand to talk about the SDU class as well as offer scrapbooking tips between 5:30pm and 7:30pm.  We will also be registering students for classes that evening so please join us for fun, refreshments and of course, scrapbooking!

My class schedule for August is as follows:

North Academy Michael's - Wednesday nights from August 11th through September 1st 6pm-8pm
Power's & S. Carefree Michael's - Thursday nights from August 19th through September 9th 6pm-8pm
Southgate Michael's - TBD

I will be scheduling store demonstrations in the coming weeks and will announce them as soon as we have dates confirmed.  I do hope that you can join us on July 30th for some FREE crop time!  See you in the classroom!!!

In the meantime - Happy Scrapping!

Our Flagpole is Up!!!

Last week I mentioned that we purchased a flagpole for our front yard from Uncommon USA.  Well, it arrived just in to be installed for Flag Day!  Here are a few pictures of my husband and our neighbor installing the new flag pole.

Starting on Sunday, they poured the concrete...

Then made sure that the pole was level...

Then on Monday (which was Flag Day), we were able to put the pole in the ground.

and, up went the flag...

God Bless America!!!!

I'm Back!!!

I am so sorry for my extended absense from my blog.  Sometimes life just gets in the way as many of you probably know.  I've had some major changes over the last month including leaving my job which has been an exciting and scary endeavor but it was time so now I'm on the hunt for my next big adventure!

You may notice a new link on my blog for Uncommon USA Flagpoles.  My husband and I recently purchased a flag pole from them and are very excited to get it installed this weekend.  Our neighbor just put one in and it's so nice that we just had to follow suit.  The thing that turned me on to it was that it is telescoping so if the wind kicks up (as it often does in our neck of the woods) we can lower the whole thing so it does not become a victim of the wind.  I am not a representative of the company but when I find something I am impressed with I like to share.  As soon as we get it installed I will post pics!

OK, now on to other news.  I have just received a "Sneak Peak" of July's MW Express kit.  It's called Bon Voyage and will be perfect for any summer vacation that you will be taking (or have already taken).  Here's a quick look:

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!  I am going to be working on some new projects that I will share soon as well as participating in a Shopper's Extravaganza tomorrow.  If you are in the Colorado Springs area, come by Novel Solutions on Circle & Airport for some great one-stop shopping tomorrow between Noon and 5pm!

Happy Friday!!!

Scrap Candy

I was going through photos of some of my work tonight and thought I'd share a few of my favorites with you.

The roses my husband gave me for Valentines Day a few years ago were so beautiful they deserved a very special layout.  I love how I was able to incorporate so many elements to the page without taking away from the photos.

This is our nephew when he was just hours old - he towers over both of us now!

I love how this layout turned out even though it's rather simple.
If you look closely you'll see that the poem is actually "hung" on the layout like a picture frame.

I did this one for a client.  It was great to work on a whole album of Paris since I've never been there.

Happy Wednesday everyone, I hope you are having a great week and I hope you've enjoyed a little "scrap candy".
